Expanding Pipe
This problem is potentially connected with several medical and engineering applications. The study examines the growth of infinitesimal disturbances to a steady flow as they propagate downstream. This includes growth in the first four azimuthal modes. The geometry under consideration is that of an expanding pipe with a 2:1 expansion ratio. In relation to the step height, h, the in-flow is 10h long, while the out-flow is 50h as shown in the diagram below.
